Barbara and Art Culver Center for the Arts

Complete historic renovation of an existing 115-year old building located at University of California, Riverside to create the Barbara and Art Culver Center for the Arts. The new center provides a combination of research and gallery space including workshops, archive spaces, exhibition galleries, studios and support offices. The renovation allowed the university to support new graduate programs in the arts and support research performance and practice.

Countywide Mechanical self-performed all HVAC components of the project. The existing mechanical system consisted of a constant volume air handling unit and various ceiling-mounted gas furnace units. Our project scope included the demolition of the existing mechanical systems and providing new AC units with VAV terminal units. A complete Direct Digital Control system was provided to integrate the new mechanical and exhaust systems for an efficient building operation. Construction phasing was also implemented on the Art Center to benefit the Owner’s need for beneficial occupancy in specific areas of the center. Countywide worked to complete those areas before moving on to new areas of work to allow occupancy.
