The David Grant Medical Center (DGMC) at Travis AFB in Northern California is the Air Force Medical Service's flagship medical treatment facility in the US. Currently undergoing modernization, Phase III includes work in seven Departments: Heart Lung Vascular Dept, Surgery Center RVU Dept, Surgery Center RWP Dept, ICU and CVICU Depts, Women's Health Dept, Labor and Delivery Dept, and Mental Health Dept. Countywide Mechanical worked in as many as four departments simultaneously.
The GC, United Excel, is also the architect and engineers on the project (United Excel Design). For Countywide Mechanical, the project is a design-bid-build project delivery method. Working in the cramped and often times congested interstitial spaces requires careful planning and coordination. Maintaining hospital operation during construction is paramount.
