Rebuilding the Community Together

Wednesday, May 17, 2017

Dedicated to transforming the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes, Rebuilding Together pairs volunteers with the time and skills to help renovate homes with families in need in their own backyards. Through home improvements and connections made during the process, the charity helps revitalize communities one project at a time — with about 10,000 rebuild projects per year nationwide.

This year, members from Countywide Mechanical Systems and Atkinson/Clark volunteered to help improve the home of a local resident who suffers from asthma and neurological issues. To better tailor the home for the resident, Countywide provided time and labor to:

  • Take video of the sewer lines to determine issues
  • Jet the main lines
  • Replace plumbing riser connections to kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and toilet
  • Replace garbage disposal
  • Install new LG multi-zone split systems
  • Install new condensate line for the fan coils
  • Spread mulch and landscaping soil in the front and back yards

Thanks to these repairs, the homeowner can live more comfortably while enjoying a better quality of life.
