Furnace Creek Inn and Ranch Resort

Countywide Mechanical Systems has been working on a project located in Death Valley at Furnace Creek Inn and Ranch Resort. Now a second project, this time with a different general contractor, will start in September and complete by Christmas Eve.

Countywide is performing the $2.3 million plumbing scope of work for a project that includes all manner of classifications: design-build and design-bid-build, renovation of existing and new construction, operating facility, and unoccupied. This is another project with Kitchell, this time working as GE Johnson Kitchell, a Joint Venture. The project is broken out into multiple pieces across three sites: Furnace Creek Inn (pool amenities, casitas, kitchen), Furnace Creek Ranch (retail/food and beverage, town hall, warehouse, dining facility), and Mission Ruins and restrooms. Construction started in March 2017 and is scheduled to complete in July 2018.

A second project, with Zelham, Inc., was awarded in the last days of August for $1.9 million. The design-bid-build project scope includes upgrading finishes and improvements to the MEP systems for 66 guestrooms at the Inn. The existing utility mains are run in a 30” by 42” tunnel. At roughly 500’ in length, replacing the mains and connecting from the rooms into the confined space requires careful preplanning and safety considerations. The project is scheduled to last four months and complete just before Christmas.
