Countywide Secures Infill Project at Sharp Grossmont Hospital

Thursday, September 22, 2016

Countywide Mechanical has been awarded the HVAC portion of the Sharp Grossmont Hospital Level 1 Infill design-build project with Swinerton Builders. Although not our first project with Swinerton this year, Countywide is excited to bring two great customers together with Swinerton and Sharp Grossmont.

The scope of work is to renovate the surgical and cardiac vascular facilities within the existing hospital. Covering 33,000 sq ft, the OSHPD project includes area for PACU 1 & 2, Sterile Supply, Lockers/Lounge, Sterile/Decontamination, Pre-OP, Surgical Admin, and Pathology/Histology. Complexities arise in the phasing for the job. Coordinating the movement of functional spaces to simultaneously keep the hospital operational and complete the scope of work has necessitated a comprehensive phasing plan.

The project utilizes a "modified" design-build delivery method, meaning the project's construction documents are already permitted. The design-build team is responsible for existing condition discrepancies within the design, constructability, construction phasing, and code compliance. Overall, the project is estimated to cost $16.9 million.

Countywide has a great history at Sharp Grossmont, with three projects completed within the last three years. We look forward to continuing our partnership while bringing a better healthcare facility to the community.
